We are definitely big fans of good sites out there, and always like to push out our own as well! We have created Modestly Handmade, which is a collection of some of the other stuff that we are doing that does not have to do with wood burned signs. Don’t fret – we are still very excited to be in the wood burning industry, and love writing articles for this site. However, signs, art, furniture, making things on our own out of home items – we love that too.
We give you… modestlyhandmade.com.

We’re very excited to present Kimo’s Korner, our latest wood burned sign! We were really excited to see how this sign turned out. It was really a fun one to work on, and the customer was a delight to work with as well.
We used a couple different techniques in creating this sign, which we will be posting about later. It took a little bit more time, but made the lines much more precise and defined, which was very important when using the font that we did (Brush Script Bold).
The process:
We used a custom Brush Script Bold font, then used our usual wood burning kit to etch in the design. The customer selected this font choice, and I think it was a really great decision. The bold, defined font really stands out on this piece of wood.
This particular design took a little longer to burn into the wood because the font was a bit wider and bolder than what we have usually done in the past (it still turned out wonderfully). After that, we “aged” it a little bit with our secret recipe (we will not disclose our “secret aging recipe”
, then finished it with a light, golden oak stain.
The finished product:

Materials used:
- Wood burning kit
- Golden oak stain
- Secret aging tools
- Patience and some time
